Problem :

The original Mala packaging relied on a minimalist, industrial look that blended in with many other candle brands. It lacked emotional storytelling, had limited shelf impact, and did not visually communicate the essence of each scent.

Solution :

The new design introduces soft, elegant illustrations and rich, expressive color palettes that reflect each scent profile (Rosebud’s floral warmth and Fireside’s cozy depth). By prioritizing visual cues processed far faster than text, the redesign improves shelf visibility, strengthens sensory connection, and enhances perceived value.

Challenge :

To redesign the packaging in a way that elevates brand identity, creates instant visual recognition, and conveys the mood of each fragrance , while maintaining a premium, modern appeal.

Summary :

The original Mala Candle packaging, while minimalist, lacked strong shelf presence and emotional appeal. The redesign introduces soft, elegant illustrations that visually communicate the scent experience, making the product more inviting and recognizable.
